Scarey Times

I'm so mad right now I could just spit! The economy is so horrible in my hometown right now that almost everyone I know, family and friends, have been hurt by it. One of my close friends was laid off today from his job, after being sick for 2 weeks and promised by his BOSS that he wouldn't get the boot, he got the boot today! ANother of my close friends, her husband got the boot too a while back and another close friend has had to take a 12% pay cut. I know that our new Pres is doing all kinds of new stuff and passing tax cuts and giving money to this and that, but so far, it's not doing one bit of good to anyone I know. We have had our own hurt because of this crap, Mark is not allowed over time, which is a big loss, we're doing ok without it so I won't complain. I just wish it would be better already, I just wish there was a brighter light at the end of the tunnel for the people I care about that are getting hit the hardest.

All I can do is pray and thank the man upstairs that we're alright. My thoughts and prayers are with those that are not so fortunate....it has to get better, it just has to!

  1. I agree. All we can do is pray that it will get better, very soon.
As for the Pres....makes me very angry!

  2. I hear you. A friend of mine in Seattle just got laid off this Monday after 3 different company cutbacks.

I'm hoping for the light too!

  3. Yeah, I know what you mean. They cut my hours at work, which is a $300 loss per month. That is the money for the health care for my family! I am opening an ETSY Shop to see if I can make back some of the loss......I know a LOT of people that lost recently.
The thing with the stimulas is that we would not see the effects of it for at least a year. Those that get the immediate pick me up are the labor jobs for construction and building and other jobs that I don't qualify for. I guess I can't complain for having a job.....total bummer.

  4. I totally understand what you are saying. I have my whole family involved in the auto industry. My Dad was laid off and my parents are living off unemployment for the next year and a half until they can get their 401k. My parents struggling... well it blows my mind, because it has been over 20 years since they have needed to worry about finances at all.

My husband was also told he has a mandatory layoff the week of the fourth of july. Bye bye stimula money- you are going to be used to keep our family's head above water. :(

It's a scary world out there. I just hope it can right itself by the time my children are out in it!

  5. Thats all we can do is PRAY!!!

I have had a rough time with my job this year but have been very thankful that even though I have been screwed......I STILL have my job. For that I am thankful.

Hope your friends can find wotk elsewhere.
